The Minor Chart tab contains 2 main areas. The left chart is the Sectional Chart and the right chart contains a Minimum, Maximum and Average view.
If you right click anywhere on the left chart you can select from the 2 charts available – 1st half vs last half and 1st 3 quarters vs last quarter. These are very powerful charts. It will show how a horse performs over different race pace. They are the basis for ratings calculations and should be your first item to review.
The charts will show quicker finishing horses on the lower part of the chart. If horses are below others for all previous runs and across the width of the chart it means they are quicker at any race speed.
Hover over a data point and it will tell you which previous run it is. Once results are available and imported, those data points will display as (Cross X) on the chart. The image above has results included.
First Half vs Last Half Chart
By default the First Half vs Last Half chart displays all horses last 5 runs by charting the last 2 quarters on the Y-Axis vs the Mile Rate first 2 quarters on the X-Axis.
When looking at this chart the user needs to understand that a quicker horse data will appear lower and to the left, while slower horse data will appear higher and to the right. Horse with faster early speed should sit further to the left on the chart.
First 3 Qtrs vs Last Qtr Chart
The First 3Qtrs vs Last Qtr chart is the same as the default chart but it’s the first 3 quarters of the race versus the last quarter. Use this chart to find the good sprinters over 400m. These horses will again be the lower points on the chart.
Importantly the grey dotted lines are track par times for a typical horse. This provides a way to see which runs are not normal for any horse.
Min To Max Ratings Chart
This chart is provided on the right hand side of this tab. The chart looks at upto the last 15 starts for each horse and calculates the minimum Rating, the average of all ratings and the maximum. This chart changes depending on the chart type selected on the main chart.
Each Bar represents a horses performance. The bars show the minimum to the maximum ratings with the thin black line being the horse’s average. The colours are based on the average rating. Bars consistently to the right and not too wide means the horse is consistent and better than ones to the left or with wide bars.
Once the results to the race are imported and extra thick black line will appear on this chart. That is the rating for the race for each horse. In the image provided it shows a number of the horses did not perform to their average.
The data displayed for each horse is filtered based on the Main Chart settings and the slider bar options that you can alter. In addition you can exclude any horses previous run from appearing.
